Terms of Service

Version [0.1] — effective [date]. Previous versions: [URL].

In short. DayScribe is a private log of your day, offered to people in India who are 18 or older, and kept under an account you sign into with a code we email you. Your entries are yours: we store, back up and sync them, and we do nothing else with them. You can export everything at any time, on any plan, and delete your account yourself. Paid plans buy features, never your data: if a plan ends, everything stays readable and exportable. The optional Telegram bot and its AI reading are off until you turn them on, and the Privacy Notice tells you exactly where your text goes when you do. These are the full terms; the short version does not replace them.

1. Who we are, and how to reach us

DayScribe is provided by [legal name of the operator] ("we", "us"), [a sole proprietorship / a limited liability partnership / a private limited company] established in India at [postal address] [, CIN / LLPIN] [, GSTIN]. The service runs at dayscribe.in.

2. Who can use DayScribe

3. Your account and signing in

4. What DayScribe is, and what it is not

DayScribe is a hosted web application that you install or open in a browser. It logs the hours of your day as time entries, count tallies, notes, tasks, journal pages, habits and calendar items, under categories you define, and it syncs those records between your devices through your account. After your first sign-in it works offline and syncs when it can. Everything the app computes, it computes on your device; the server's job is sign-in, storage, sync, backups and, if you turn it on, the Telegram bot.

DayScribe is not medical, psychological, financial or legal advice, and it is not a medical device. Its charts, rings and summaries are arithmetic over what you typed. If you are in danger or in crisis, call 112, India's emergency number; the app is not built for that.

Features marked beta in the app or on the Pricing page are offered as work in progress. They may change, pause or be withdrawn; if you paid for one and we withdraw it, §12 applies. Today the Telegram bot and its AI reading are beta.

The app updates itself when it is online. For as long as you use DayScribe we supply the updates needed to keep it working as described, and we tell you in the app about changes that matter.

5. Plans, prices and payment

The plans. DayScribe has three plans, Free, [Pro] and [Max], each including everything in the one before it. What each plan holds is listed on the Pricing page, and that list as it stands when you subscribe is part of this agreement. Prices are in Indian rupees and include all taxes. The price you see is the price you pay; nothing is added at checkout.

Four things no plan changes.

  1. No plan limits your own data: no caps on entries, habits, notes or history.
  2. Export is never paywalled, filtered or summarised (§6).
  3. We record no telemetry on any plan.
  4. Payment buys features, never your data. When a paid plan ends, for any reason, your account moves to the Free plan. Nothing is deleted; everything stays readable and exportable.

Buying a plan. We sell the plans ourselves. Payment is taken by [Razorpay / Cashfree], our payment gateway, which processes it under its own terms and the Reserve Bank of India's rules. You can pay by UPI, a debit or credit card issued in India, or net banking; cards issued outside India are not accepted. We receive the plan you bought, its status and a payment reference. We never see or store card, bank or UPI details. We email you [an invoice / a GST invoice] for every payment.

Renewal. A paid plan renews automatically at the end of each [month / year] until you cancel. It renews under a recurring mandate that you approve with your bank or UPI app when you subscribe: a card e-mandate or UPI AutoPay. Your bank or UPI app notifies you at least 24 hours before each charge, with a way to opt out, as the RBI's rules require. We also email you before each annual renewal, and before the first charge after any free trial or introductory price, stating the amount and the date. You can cancel at any time, in no more steps than it took to subscribe: in [Settings → Plan], or by revoking the mandate in your UPI app or with your bank. Cancelling stops the next charge, and the plan runs to the end of the period you paid for.

Price changes. We may change a price with at least 30 days' notice by email. The new price applies from your next renewal after the notice, never to a period you already paid for, and you may cancel before it applies. If the new price needs a new mandate, we ask you for one; we never charge more than the mandate you approved.

Refunds. If you buy a paid plan for the first time, you may cancel within 14 days of the purchase for a full refund, no reason needed, even though the plan started at once. After those 14 days, fees are not refunded for time you do not use, except where we withdraw a feature you paid for or end your account for our own reasons (§12, §14), in which case we refund the unused part of the period. Refunds go back to the method you paid with, within [7] working days of our approving them.

Free trials and introductory prices. [None at launch / describe.] A free trial never asks for card details or a payment mandate to start. When it ends, your account moves to the Free plan, unless you have chosen to subscribe.

6. Your content

7. Deleting things, and deleting your account

Deleting a record in the app hides it everywhere and marks it deleted. The record is kept, with its content, so that Undo works and your other devices learn of the deletion; it appears in your own backup file as a deleted record. It is erased when you delete your account.

Deleting your account is yours to do, in Backup & sync → [Delete account], by confirming your email address. It is immediate and cannot be undone: your account, every record, your sessions, and any Telegram link and bot messages are erased from our live systems at once. Copies in our encrypted backups expire on their own schedule and are gone within 12 months (Part B §8). Records the law makes us keep are kept apart from the service, for the period that law sets, and used for nothing else: invoices under GST law, the security logs in Part B §8 and, from 13 May 2027, the one-year copy the DPDP Rules require (Part B §8). Export first; we cannot recover an account after deletion.

8. Leaving DayScribe, and taking your data with you

You may leave at any time, without notice and without a fee. To make leaving real rather than nominal:

9. The Telegram bot and AI features

Both are optional and off until you turn them on in Settings.

The bot. You may connect a Telegram account to DayScribe with a pairing code that lives ten minutes, and then send the bot messages or voice notes that become entries and tasks. What you send passes through Telegram, which has its own terms and privacy policy, and reaches our server. Each message is kept with the records it created, as a log of what the bot did, until you delete your account. One Telegram account can be linked to one DayScribe account. You can unlink at any time.

The AI reading. By default the bot understands only messages our own parser can read. You may separately turn on Let AI read messages I can't phrase simply. When it is on, and only for a message the parser cannot read, the text of that message and the names of your categories are sent to [AI provider and country — Sarvam AI, India; or OpenRouter, Inc., United States; as configured] to be interpreted. A voice note is transcribed by [transcription provider and country — Sarvam AI, India; or Groq, Inc. or OpenAI, United States; as configured], and the audio is discarded once transcribed. Nothing else is sent: not your other entries, not your email, not your history. A monthly limit applies per account, after which the bot says so and the parser still works.

What the AI produces may be wrong. Everything the bot creates is shown to you in the app and can be undone, and where a message was interpreted by an AI provider the bot's reply says so. The AI does not make decisions about you; it turns your words into records you control. Turn it off at any time; what was already created stays.

Planned features (an AI weekly review, voice notes in the app, a link to Google Calendar, a graph of your notes) will follow the same rules: opt-in, named providers, the minimum sent, and a change to the Privacy Notice before they go live. A link to Google Calendar would additionally be bound by Google's rules for the data it hands us, and would need its own consent screen.

10. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

11. Illegal content and notices

Nothing you store in DayScribe is published or visible to anyone else, and we do not monitor it. If someone tells us, through the Grievance Officer (§1), that content stored through DayScribe is unlawful, or a court or a government agency acting under the Information Technology Act orders us to act, we assess it and act only as far as the law requires, within the time it sets. Where we restrict anything, we tell the account holder what we did and why, unless the order forbids it, and you can raise a grievance about it with the Grievance Officer. If we learn of something that points to a serious crime threatening someone's life or safety, we inform the police.

12. Changes to DayScribe

We keep improving the app, and we may change or remove features for a valid reason: security, the law, a technical necessity, or a change in the product that we explain. Such changes cost you nothing extra. If a change would make DayScribe materially worse for you to use, or removes something you pay for, we tell you at least 30 days before by email and in the app, and you may end your plan within 30 days of the change with a refund of the unused part of what you paid. The four promises in §5 do not change.

13. Our promises, and what we are not responsible for

14. Ending this agreement

15. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms. For any change that is not merely clerical or required by law, we email you and show a notice in the app at least 30 days before it takes effect, with what changed and why. If you do not agree, you may end the agreement before that date (§14), with a refund of the unused part of any paid period. A change is never retroactive. Earlier versions stay published at [URL].
